Kishori Amonkar, Rag Bageshree

Born in 1931, she is the worthy daughter of Mogubai Kurdikar.
Listen to her rendering of Bageshree in which she unfolds a bada & chota khayal (slow & fast compositions) in teental (rhythmic cycle of 16 beats)..
Kishoriji is a great exponent of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana.

Shreekrishna Narayan Ratanjankar

Shrikrishna Narayan Ratanjankar has been the foremost disciple of Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande. He was an extremely learned scholar on raga-s and their compositions. He was also an outstanding composer and his bandishes, covering practicaly the whole range of rags (common and rare), are of an astoundingly high standart.
On Panditji's advice, he also learned from Faiyaz Khan. He was the Principal of Bhatkhandeji's Marris College of Music of Lucknow and left us remarkable books of compositions : Abhinav Geet Shiksha (Vols.I-III), Tan Sangraha (Vols.I-III), Abhinav Geet Manjari (Vols I-IIa, IIb), Tal Lakshangeet Sangraha, Hindustani Sangeet ki Svarlipi and Varnmala, all published by Popular Prakashan, Bombay 34.

Sawai Gandharva

His real name was Rambhau Kundgolkar. He learnt from Abdul Karim Khan but, according to V.H. Deshpande, in an interview of Y.N. Kelkar, Sawai Gandharv acknowledged is debt to Bhaskarbuwa Bhakhale and to Nissar Hussain Khan of Gwalior, the Ustad of Wazebua.
He was a great vocalist and taught Gangubai Hangal, Bhimsen Joshi and Saraswati Rane (younger sister of Hirabai Barodekar).
