Those were the days... when I used to love Hammond players, when I was young, in the sixties ... In creative rock music, Brian Auger, who was accompanying Julie Driscoll,  Keith Emerson, who was the leader of the Nice ... in Jazz, there was the legendary Larry Young (remember Tony ‘s LP "Emergency") ...

Once, while zapping TV, I saw an incredible concert, shot in B&W - end of the sixties - of 3 guys and I immediately told myself "wah ! this must be Keith Emerson". It was him alright. But I had not cassette free to record the whole thing. I never forgot that experience and tried to put my hands on this fabulous concert but to no avail. I only found a few DVD - mostly documentaries - on Emerson, Lake, Palmer until I got this DVD (published by classicrock production). This is not the concert I had seen on TV (I’m sure it was in B&W) but is quite good too.

I have put a video excerpt of their concert, in which you will see Emerson stabbing his Hammond keyboard with knives. I read that he used to spend hours repairing the organ after concerts ... Emerson is a really superb musician even if he didn't seem to know too much - at least - at that time - the meaning of the word silence, in music. His original idea was to mix-up classical western music with rock and a touch of psychedelic and contemporary music. That could well be most inspiring for younger generations of today.
